Raging Bull
This movie is a great accomplishment, but it was painful to watch. I guess I have to be careful about recommended films; two in a row ... I could feel my face contorting with horror and repugnance.

Ha ha! Well, I did say we have different taste. To me it's lncredibly beautiful visually, the story is like something from Greek drama, and the acting is sublime. I admit I still have not finished watching Eraserhead, for similar reasons to the ones you describe.
I *LAUGH* through Eraserhead. I guess my mentally ill relatives hardened me to it. The chicken, the alien baby and a few other aspects of it are totally gross, though. The last part of Raging Bull showed his pathetic aspect. We know all along he is not quite all there ... at least no one gets killed.
